​   The Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs Kalpana Devi Koonjoo-Shah, proceeded to the launching of a consultative meeting for the setting up of an observatory on Gender Based Violence in the Republic of Mauritius on the 10th December 2019​ ​

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was observed on the 24th November 2019 around the world. In Mauritius, the theme was : Nou tou kont Violans. A ceremony was held at Reduit in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare and other eminent personalities.​​
